Day 1

Arrive ROME FIUMICINO AIRPORT


  • 90 mins bus transfer to Altarocca Wine Resort, Orvieto for a 2 night stay

Day 2

ORVIETO and CIVITA DI BAGNOREGIO


  • Breakfast and morning transfer to Orvieto

    • Guided visit to include the Cathedral, Orvieto underground and St. Patrick's Well

    • Free time for lunch

    • Afternoon transfer to Civita di Bagnoregio in the Region of Lazio

    • Return to Altarocca Dinner/wine and overnight stay

ORVIETO is a city full of cultural heritage and traditions with a vibrant lifestyle. It is one of the most enjoyable hill towns in Italy. The city stands on a huge tufo of volcanic stone above the Umbria plains.

CIVITA is isolated from the surrounding villages and can only be reached via a long narrow bridge built to connect it to BAGNOREGIO, its neighboring town. The rock that supports the town is subject to intense erosion due to wind and water which will eventually lead to its collapse. This story makes Civita di Bagnoregio unique and is what gave the village its nickname “Italy’s dying town”. It is a UNESCO heritage site.


Day 3

DERUTA and MONTEFALCO

  • Breakfast and check out

    • Transfer to Deruta. Visit to see production of ceramics, meet the artisans and try your hand at painting your own

    • Transfer to Montefalco

    • Lunch on your own in Montefalco

    • Check-in to Palazzo Bondatosi in the Piazza for 3 nights

    • Walking orientation of the town followed by wine tasting, cooking class and dinner at a local winery

DERUTA Italian Deruta Pottery and Ceramics. The classic Deruta Designs are the most popular and traditional Italian ceramics from Italy. The very essence, the soul of Italian ceramics lives in the little town of Deruta, the center of Italian Majolica sine the 12th century has over many ceramic workshops with families producing Deruta for generation. Deruta offerings are some of the best quality majolica in the world.

MONTEFALCO perched on a hilltop boasts some of the most magnificent views over the undulating hills, vineyards and olive groves. These characteristics make this destination one of the most attractive towns in Umbria, along with the iconic towns of Assisi, Orvieto and Perugia, where you can enjoy art, culture, good wine and food in a relaxed setting.



Day 4

ASSISI and BEVAGNA


  • Breakfast and transfer to Assisi. Orientation, market, shopping and free time

  • Guided visit of Assisi including the Basilica and Santa Clara

  • Transfer to Torre del Colle, tour of olive mill, olive tasting and lunch

  • Transfer to Bevagna for medieval paper manufacturing and stroll around town. Prosecco and cashmere shopping

  • Dinner at local restaurant in Montefalco. Overnight in Montefalco at Palazzo Bontadosi

St. Francis was born in Assisi. He gave up his wealth to be of service to humanity and had a great affinity with birds and animals. The town combines art, nature, history and religion but is renowned as a pilgrimage destination and the nuns and friars from all over the world who come to visit the birthplace of St. Francis, founder of the Catholic Franciscan order. Assisi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

BEVAGNA. From Mevania to Bevagna, one of the ‘Borghi piu belli d’Italia’ (most beautiful towns in Italy), with a population of 5,000 people and a history of Medieval civilizations. The 17th and 18th centuries reaffirm the image of a rich agrarian territory rich with in soils destined to crops and pergolas cultivations while the list of the factories, art and craft traders drawn up in 1850 testifies to 6 taverns or retail wine shops within the walls of Bevagna. They are well known for their local foods, truffle dishes, typical Umbrian specialities, high quality olive oil and red and white wines, gnocchi di Sagrantino being a speciality dish.


Day 5

PERUGIA and SPELLO


• Breakfast and transfer to Perugia

• Urban trekking and a guided tour of Perugia

• Free time for lunch

• Transfer to Spello for free time!

• Dinner/wine at Locanda del Teatro, Montefalco

• Overnight in Montefalco at Palazzo Bontadosi

PERUGIA. The cultural hub for the Umbrian region. A mighty Etruscan centre and important medieval city. Perugia has a deep layered history, the narrow cobbled streets have changed little, you will find Gothic mansions, Etruscan walls, Medieval basilicas and Renaissance frescoes, not to mention the famous international festivals for Chocolate and Jazz! Perugia boasts a lively and bustling city life thanks to two historic universities: the University of Perugia founded in 1308 and the University for Foreigners, the oldest of its kind in Italy.

SPELLO. Nestled on the southern flank of Mount Subasio, between Assisi and Foligno, is part of the club of “the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” due to its significant environmental, cultural and artistic heritage. The ancient town center of Umbrian origin, “Hispellum” from the first century BC was an important Roman town given the title “Splendidissima Colonia Julia”. There is important and impressive evidence of the Roman period which coexists beautifully with today’s medieval urban appearance.


Day 6

TRUFFLE HUNTING and SPOLETO

  • Breakfast and check out

  • Transfer to Monteluco

  • Guided hike from Monteluco to Agriturismo Bartoli

  • Truffle hunting with Pietro and his Spaniels

  • Lunch/wine at Agriturismo Bartoli

  • Guided visit of Spoleto

  • Dinner and overnight at Torre del Nera (Valnerina) for 2 nights

TRUFFLE HUNTING (in season) A family of seven generations have lived and worked the farm at Agriturismo Bartoli. The location and 360 degree views from there are breathtaking. They delight in sharing their piece of paradise, reveling in stories as well as preparing a delicious lunch.

SPOLETO Spoleto is a medieval town packed with Roman history. It is overlooked by its majestic fortress and backed by the Appenines and offers us great places to visit. An entirely intact Roman theater in the town center tells us about the city’s glorious Roman past, it was once the Capital of the Lombardy Duchy in 570 and flourished for 300 years.



Day 7

VALNERINA BIKING and
CASTELLUCCIO or other


  • Transfer to Valnerina

  • Morning mountain e-bikes ride with Luca

  • Lunch/wine at Zafferano‘s

  • Afternoon - transfer to Castelluccio when multicolored blooming wild flowers are in season May/June, or Norcia or rafting on the river Nera or Spa at Torre de Nera.

  • Transfer back to Torre del Nera

  • Dinner/wine and overnight at a local restaurant

A morning e-bike ride for 20 km on an old disused railway track with long tunnels to discover the beauty of Valnerina, a remote area of Umbria so rich in history. It is here where the first Christians traveled to Rome, and was a place hermits chose to live.

DAY 8

Payment terms:

  • Per person the cost of the 7 night trip in Umbria is Euros 4,772 ($5,599 approx), Transfer from Rome Fiumicino and return.

  • $800 deposit required to confirm a place. Balance is due 4 months prior to the tour going out. Groups are small 12-14 people per trip. Check or Zelle for payment, credit cards will incur 3% charge.

  • Private groups can build a specialized tour around the three hotels in Orvieto, Montefalco and Valdinera.

The trip does not include

  • Insurance for travel/cancellations. We highly recommend you take out a policy when booking flights incase of flight situations, there’s an emergency at home you need to get back for. Any special medical needs
